The following steps walk you through the correct shut down process for your sprinkler system. - Close main ball valve located in basement or crawl space.
- Open drain and place bucket underneath (more water will drain out when steps 4 and 5 are performed).
- Locate pressure vacuum breaker (backflow prevention device) outside the house.
- Turn both large handled valves 1/8th of a turn. Refer to figure A below.
- With a screwdriver open both air cocks 1/8th of a turn. Refer to figure A.
- Remove cap from brass 90 and place somewhere safe. Refer to Figure A.
- Open brass drain in valve box.
- Turn controller to Off position.
How do I start up my sprinkler system?The following steps walk you through the correct start up process for your sprinkler system.
- Close brass drain in valve box.
- Replace cap on brass 90.
- With screw driver close both air cocks (back to vertical). Refer to figure B.
- Turn both large handled valves so they are in line with copper pipe. Refer to figure B.
- Close drain in basement or crawlspace.
- Open water supply valve to sprinkler system...!!!! SLOWLY...!!!!
- Turn controller back to Auto position.
